So you wana grow your business on Facebook, but maybe you are not getting any results, or maybe you are just not really sure how to make it happen.

The bad news is 99% of marketers are using Facebook the wrong way

The good news is the right way is very easy to understand.

So how do you grow your business on facebook?

For starters don't do stupid things like sending people unsolicited links or posting links on other people's walls. Don't use hype in your status updates and don't send mass spam messages.

I know you fully understand this, but I have to say it anyway in case there is some knucklehead reading over your shoulder.

OK on to the good stuff.

Part 1: Locating the ideal prospect

Start by doing a search for network marketing groups, or public figures related to MLM.

Some people like to just go down the list of fans/group members and copy paste copy paste friend request everyone.

"Hi Dank, I love meeting like minded people, let's connect!"

Don't do that.

You will be wasting a ton of time because you have no idea who you are communicating with.

Instead you want to look for comments on the status updates.

Look for some comments you like. This way you know a little bit about what type of person you are talking to, and that they are genuinely active/interested in some way.

Some excellent Fan pages to use might include:

Robert KiyosakiTony RobbinsJim RohnLocal real estateDani Johnson

Part 2: Characteristics of the ideal prospect

Remember, people act on Facebook how they act in real life.

Look for people who are positive. (duh) Downbeat people need to be avoided at all costs

For the most part stay away from people who leave long long comments. If they have the time to write a book responding to each and every status update then they probably don't have much going on. You want busy, go getter, action oriented people, Not chronically unemployed, couch surfing, overly opinionated people with bad B.O.

Of course skip the argumentative crowd. Some people just like to argue. It gives them a reason to live, and me a reason to ignore them entirely.

Look for people with some indication of openness. This might not be noticeable, but people will often leave subtle hints, you just have to learn to look for them.

Finally you want people who behave (at least somewhat) professionally.

Part 3: How to form a real connection

This here is the KEY to growing your business on Facebook.

Once you pick someone to start a connection with (following the above criteria) send them an individual, personal message.

Like I said before skip the "hey we're in the same industry, lets connect" rubbish. (really, that line is getting old, and the only reason people keep using it is because they see other people using it. Social proof at it's greatest)

Look at their profile and find something you have in common with them.

Ask a lot of questions.

Ask "What do you do?"

Of course don't send your link unless asked. Spam like, really sux dude.

And keep your profile clean and professional.

I mean farmville, really? Nuthin better to do?

Lame

If you want to attract devoted, hard working people, then you need to act/talk/live/eat/poop the same way.

Use your status updates to draw attention/curiosity, just don"t be hypy.

Post exciting things that are going on in your biz.

When you sign someone post something like this:

"Welcome, [Mario] a [plumber] from Indiana to the [your company] family!"

Not only does this indicate that things are occurring in your biz, but this will get extra attention from anyone who is a plumber, or from Indiana, or who likes mushrooms.

Finally, go to events and post pics with industry leaders. Let people see that you are productive, that you go out and meet people. Associate yourself with...
