How to Find the Perfect Music Blog - Entertainment - Music
If you enjoy reading blogs, and you enjoy music, it makes sense to combine the two. But finding a good music blog, one that speaks to your particular interests and in a voice that you particularly enjoy, can be tough.
The Internet is jam-packed with blogs in general and even music blogs in particular, so finding the right few blogs to give your time to can be tough.
Here are a few tips to finding just the right music blog for you.
1. Google the name of an artist that you particularly like and the word "blog". This should bring up one or two blogs that have talked about your favorite artists before. Read through the blogs that come up in the search results and get a feel for whether or not this is a blog you'd like to add to an RSS reader or one that you would simply like to bookmark and read now and then. If the blog doesn't interest you, but you're somewhat intrigued, look at some of the comments on some blog posts and click through and read other people's blogs. Oftentimes in order to drive traffic to a blog people will comment on other blogs so that they get traffic to their blog. You can help them with this process by reading their blog. You might surprise yourself and find just the perfect music blog for you.
2. Add Google News alerts. When you sign up for a news alert, you can indicate a specific interests, in this case music. If there is a specific artist you're interested in reading about on blogs you can also add their name to your search filter. Oftentimes Google News alerts will include links to blog posts that are relevant to your Google News alerts search criteria. This is an excellent way to find a blog that you might have otherwise not found.
3. Go to Technorati's blog finder and click on music. You can scroll through the search results and click on some of them to see if those blogs suit you. Once you click on a blog, Technorati will give you some basic information about the blog and will give you a snippet of the most recent blog posts. This can save you a good deal of time because you can tell just from the description and the snippet of a blog post whether or not the blog writes in a style or tone that suits you, or whether the subject matter looks like something that will appeal to you.
The good news is you really can't go wrong. You might decide to subscribe to a blog, or you bookmark it and over a period of time discover that the blog really doesn't speak to your interests and that you find you click on it or read it less often than before. Because you haven't committed to anything, it's easy to simply unsubscribe or to remove that blog from your bookmark list. Then you can move on to something that suits you better.
